The PTC/USER Creo CAD Technical Committee covers many different facets of the core components for Creo part and assembly modeling and beyond. Some of the functional areas discussed include general modeling, assemblies, and family tables. There are also many small Working Groups that have come from Creo CAD TC meetings and discussions, including new capabilities such as multi-body, generative design, family table data management, and others.
PTC/USER Technical Committees consist of customers like you who work together with PTC Product Managers talking about how the products work today and what can be done to make them even better. Joining a Technical Committee is a great way to have your voice heard and network with your peers in industry.
We welcome new members! Please apply for the Creo CAD or any other TC that may interest you via the PTC/USER portal.

The part-centric methodology orchestrated by Windchill is an integral component to the digital thread, enabling enterprises to realize their digital transformation goals. A model-based approach of driving the creation of the eBOM from native CAD data delivers an automated mechanism providing a highly visual BOM to the extended enterprise.
Although this may sound simple enough, CAD design decisions don’t always match the way engineering expects the BOM to be structured. Managing these complex associations while keeping information and changes synchronized, whether made in CAD or to the BOM, can prove challenging.
Join presenter Steve Shaw, PLM Solutions Director, on March 11th at 10 am EST, for this Tech Tips session where he will:
- Explore the recent improvements to the tools and capabilities available in Windchill’s CAD integration and BOM management;
- Demonstrate how these tools and capabilities can help streamline the process, identify differences, and manage the connection between CAD and the engineering BOM;
- Explain how to synchronize all of the information back to the BOM for downstream consumption and visibility.

Perfect journey for high quality publishing XML content in a speedy manner
Many companies are looking for optimizing XML publishing capabilities to better support their customer needs. More and more product related documents, in different formats, with a variety of layouts, are needed. Required effort for that is often painful.
Arbortext Publishing Engine is a powerful solution to enable high-end publishing to different formats in a cost-effective manner. It greatly supports formats such as PDF, HTML, eBook and Content Delivery. Arbortext Styler provides excellent efficiency to create and maintain stylesheets required for that. All without programming.
In this webinar event, DATACOPY a well experienced PTC partner will demonstrate the journey to easily move to the powerful Arbortext Publishing Engine. Beside some overview, Erwin Mueller will focus on live presentation for Arbortext Styler and Publishing Engine. Erwin is a Senior Principal Consultant optimizing XML high-end publishing solutions for customers across Europe for more than 2 decades.

To celebrate Women’s History Month, we are holding our next meetup on Wednesday, March 24th at 6pm EST. You can find out more and RSVP here!
Two guest speakers will kick the meeting off by discussing success stories in their careers as women engineers, this will be followed by another technical presenter from Onshape. We would also like to focus even more on networking, so fun games and activities are planned for the end of the meetup. Feel free to pass this n:ews along to others and remember, they don’t have to be a heavy Onshape user to attend, all are welcome!
Secondly, we have officially appointed a co-lead for the user group! Micki Dupnik will be joining me on the leadership team. Micki Dupnik is a graduate of Boston University with a degree in Biomedical engineering, a minor in Mechanical Engineering and a Concentration in Technology Innovation. She has 8 years of CAD experience and is currently working as the lead mechanical design engineer at Vivonics Inc., a biomedical engineering technology development firm that specializes in developing innovative technologies that improve human health and performance from the initial concept through to viable products. Outside of the office, she is also a jazz vocalist and piano player. Post COVID, you can find her at Boston open mic nights. Please help me in welcoming Micki to the leadership team!
Stay tuned for more announcements regarding the speakers leading up to the meetup. Once again you can RSVP here.

Extending PLM with Systems & Software Engineering | March 31, 2021 at 10 AM EST
Many manufacturers today are seeking to overcome design and development challenges which impact and delay their product innovation. Product complexity, changes to requirements, lack of virtual prototyping, and redundant test cases are hindering collaboration and leading to poor product quality.
This symposium aims to shed light on how to improve quality and productivity by extending PTC’s Windchill PLM solution with requirements management, model-based systems engineering, virtual product simulation and validation.
In this two-hour virtual event, PTC experts will be joined by speakers from DB Netz AG, Edwards Lifesciences and Tetrapak, who will discuss what it takes to successfully implement and integrate SSE into the PLM lifecycle. Attendees will learn how to:
- Expand a PLM-enabled digital thread into requirements definitions and whole product system level design & simulation
- Create data continuity with downstream teams for test authoring and results management
- Ensure a successful deployment that establishes digital traceability based on learnings from PTC customers in various industries
There will be a short introduction of PTC’s Systems & Software Engineering solutions and how they extend into the Windchill PLM platform, followed by a deep dive into customer stories that illustrate real life examples. Exciting updates on partner offerings will be shared, including Cybellum’s latest integration to manage Cybersecurity for upcoming regulations. The Symposium will conclude with a presentation of PTC’s SSE Product Release Roadmap and future strategies.
Here are some highlights of what you can expect:
Presenter: Randolf Berglehner, Neovendi, for DB Netz AG
|
Presenter: Grace Michaels, Software Quality Manager

Validating Model-based Specifications in their Real Context
|
Moving from Manual to Digital
|
Digital Engineering – Designing the system right for the future
|
DB Netz AG has developed a methodology to specify European context (EULYNX) rail infrastructure systems using executable Models in Windchill Modeler. These are validated using simulation with domain experts and then communicated to the DB suppliers. In order to ensure a true interface compatibility with the system context, DB is now extending the validation options by integrating the models into their real context using Thingworx.
In this session, they will demonstrate this using an example developed in the field, interfacing trains with infrastructure control devices. The DB approach to early lifecycle quality assurance, within the strictly regulated rail industry will also be explained.
|
For Edwards Lifesciences engineers with Digital Transformation vision, the goal is to accelerate innovations by reducing complexity, improving collaboration, and automating best practices, thus helping their patients. By being paperless, traceable, visible, integrated, and real, this presentation will focus on how, by becoming automated, Edwards Lifesciences is faster and streamlined as well as quality compliant.
|
TetraPak, liquid foods packaging and distribution leader, set out to build their Industry 4.0 capability so their systems were designed right for the future. In this session, System Architect, Joachim Sjölander will introduce TetraPak and their industry followed by a presentation on their equipment development journey.
